Photographer Josh Merrill drove 10 hours through the night to snap this pic at Gooseberry Falls. It was well worth it.
This lovely frozen landscape was taken at sunrise, during one of Merrill’s frequent trips from Chicago to visit his brother, who lives along the Gunflint. But sights like this would justify the trip in any circumstance. Just ask Josh:
Whether it be a Fall or Winter (or even summer) visit, Gooseberry Falls has never been a disappointment. With a large trail system, river/waterfalls, and the lakeshore of Superior, there is a lot to take in.
Thanks to Josh. And for that matter, thanks to his bro too. You can find more of Josh’s landscape work on his portfolio site and on his Flickr deal.
